SMC Center-Level ABC/M Pilot Project

Develop an ABC/M core model architecture for use by all SPOs, product centers, and logistics centers in the implementation of ABC/M across the AFMC Product Support Business Area (PSBA).

Develop a Center-Level ABC/M model for the SMC PSBA staff offices

Planning and Training, Core Model Develppment, Pilot Application and Data Collection, Analysis and Model Refinement, AFMC Center Level Deployment Planning/ Recommendations, EasyABC Plus version 4.02

HQ AFMC

Developed the pilot project out-brief to SMC/CC. We created custom pie charts that accurately depicted the pilot program results, clearly showing the areas where improvements could be realized. We also developed a unique, phased strategy for implementing ABC/M across all SMC SPOs and staff offices

The SMC Center-level project was the final AFMC ABC/M pilot, and led to the decision to implement ABC/M across the AFMC PSBA

HQ AFMC, Global Positioning System (GPS) Joint Program Office (JPO), and Sacramento ALC (SM-ALC)

(SMC/CZ)

Planning, training, and ABC model development and implementation for the GPS JPO

Develop ABC model for GPS acquisition and logistics functions using ABC Technologies software

HQ AFMC, SMC, GPS JPO

Successfully implemented ABC model for GPS JPO covering PSBA functions

Implementation of recommended improvements will save GPS JPO $660K per year.

HQ AFMC, F-16 System Program Office (SPO), and Ogden ALC (OO-ALC)

Planning, training, and ABC model development and implementation for the F-16 SPO

Develop ABC model for F-16 acquisition and logistics functions using ABC Technologies Software

HQ AFMC,

ASC, OO-ALC, F-16 SPO; interfaced with automated time tracking system.

Successfully implemented ABC model for F-16 SPO covering PSBA and supply management functions

Used as decision-making tool to comply with PEO direction to reduce SPO size by 50%. Used by Program Director to implement process improvements.

HQ AFMC, E-3 AWACS SPO, and Oklahoma City ALC (OC-ALC)

Planning, training, and ABC model development and implementation for the E-3 AWACS SPO

Develop ABC model for E-3 acquisition and logistics functions using ABC Technologies Software

HQ AFMC, ESC, OC-ALC, E-3 AWACS SPO

Successfully implemented ABC model for E-3 SPO; includes PSBA and supply management functions, and all FMS programs

AWACS model being used as the ABC prototype for ESC. Implementation of recommended improvements will recoup ABC investment in 3 months and save SPO $500K-$1 million per year.

HQ AFMC, SOF SPO, and Warner Robbins ALC (WR-ALC)

Planning, training, ABC model development and implementation for the SOF SPO

Develop ABC model for SOF acquisition and logistics functions using ABC Technologies Software

HQ AFMC,

ASC, WR-ALC, SOF SPO

Successfully implemented an ABC model for SOF SPO and logistics center staff

Implementation of recommended improvements will save SOF SPO 2-3 times the ABC investment per year. Assisted SPO in capturing $1 million cost associated with supporting ongoing litigation.

Naval Supply Systems Command (Cherry Point Marine Corps Depot)

Develop ABC system; integrate with depot’s manufacturing system to determine the cost of spare parts production

Determined functional requirements; built and implemented ABC system using Oracle

U.S. Naval Supply Systems Command; automated interfaces with manufacturing equipment

Successfully developed and implemented ABC system that accurately determined spare parts production unit costs

Permitted Marine Corps depot to successfully bid and charge customers for spare parts production; enhanced the accuracy of Industrial Fund reimbursements.
