FUNCTION: Assistant Controller
 
LOCATION: Corporate Headquarters - Goleta, CA
 
EDUCATION REQUIRED: A bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required.
 
YEARS OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: The position requires at least eight years of accounting/finance experience.
 
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: Required Skills: • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with a minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience (to include 6 or more years of government contract accounting experience, 3 or more in a supervisory or management role) • 3 or more years direct project billing experience using Deltek Costpoint, Cognos or Impromptu report writers, and the WAWF system for billing complex, multi-CLIN and ACRN government contracts • Solid understanding of GAAP, FAR, DFAR and CAS • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects, monitor workflow, and maintain cooperative working relationships • Acute attention to detail and commitment to excellence and high standards Preferred Skills/Certifications: • CPA or CMA designation • Experience with GSA Schedule Contracts and IFF reporting • Experience preparing Incurred Cost Claims and supporting government agency audits
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: Tecolote has an opportunity for an experienced financial professional to serve as an Assistant Controller at our Corporate Headquarters Office in Santa Barbara, California. The position will report to the Controller and have direct and primary management responsibility over billings and accounts receivable in addition to supporting other general accounting and job costing functions. Primary management responsibilities: • Manage billings and accounts receivable staff providing training, leadership and support to ensure efficiency in operations and accuracy in work product • Review of contract awards and modifications to accurately establish and manage compliance with contractual billing requirements • Oversee project set-up in Deltek Costpoint, invoice submission through WAWF, creation of custom invoices, and contract closeouts for all contract types (T&M, Cost Type, FFP, etc.) • Monitor accounts receivable and proactively resolve collections issues • Prepare and maintain billing and accounts receivable Policies and Procedures • Support preparation of the annual Incurred Cost Claim and DCAA Billing/Accounting System Reviews/Audits and other agency inquiries Additional responsibilities include supporting the Controller in managing indirect cost and job costing functions and performing other general accounting duties and special projects as assigned by the Controller or CFO.
