Congressional Liaison

Location: El Segundo, CA
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in math, engineering, business, or the sciences.
Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a related field such as Business, Law, Government, Political Science, Public Policy/Administration
  • Minimum 3-5 years of any combination of local, state, or federal law experience. Experience must include at least two of the following: public and legislative document research, legal research, legal and legislative analysis, drafting legislative proposals, drafting strategic communications or messaging plans, and execution of executive-level scheduling and/or event planning
  • Individual must excel at demonstrating initiative and learning and adapting quickly, while also working independently with little supervision
  • Prior experience within the Department of Defense or civil space agencies is preferred, but not mandatory
  • Active Secret Clearance required
  • The ideal candidate will think critically and analytically to provide expert Congressional analysis, synthesis of Congressional Defense Committee (CDC) concerns and issues, and knowledge of the annual congressional cycle, processes, and the various events in the Air Force Task/Response Timeline to Congress
  • Candidate must be knowledgeable of the mission, functions, organizational structures, operations, and roles of CDCs, Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force (AF), Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), and other entities that govern, interface with, and/or influence space programs acquisitions, reporting, and processes
  • Candidate will conduct congressional research and assist the Government with preparation and review of AF responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), Questions for the Record (QFRs), strategic messaging, hearings, and testimonies for all levels of senior leadership, and all other SMC Congressional-related activities
  • The candidate will assist with planning, coordinating, and preparing logistics for Staffer/Congressional Delegation and committee visits, and prepare congressional briefing templates and materials for SMC reviews
  • Bi-annual briefing of the SMC PEOs and/or next-level SMC Leadership regarding the congressional players, climate, upcoming electoral issues, concerns, and items of interest is required
  • Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with technical and administrative accuracy in a professional manner
